Overview

The Quadient AS-850 is the "Sport Utility Printer" of the addressing system world — the most versatile and capable monochrome inkjet addressing system in its class. With an industry-leading 4" print area, an advanced 2+4+2 print head configuration, and the ability to handle media up to 50" long and 0.5" thick, the AS-850 is built for operations that demand maximum throughput and media flexibility.

The AS-850's AccuTrak™ transport deck lets operators precisely position transport belts and guides for dead-on registration on any media type. Combined with EASYInks — a specialized formulation that adheres to virtually any surface — the AS-850 handles chipboard, corrugated cardboard, coated stocks, and irregular pieces that other systems cannot process reliably.

As an authorized Quadient dealer, Mail Movers sells, installs, and services the AS-850 across the Delmarva Peninsula from our Salisbury, MD facility. Our team can demonstrate the machine and help you configure the right accessories — conveyor, stacker, dryer, or the optional AS-FDR14 high-capacity feeder — for your specific workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Quadient AS-850?

The Quadient AS-850 is a heavy-duty monochrome inkjet addressing system — the 'Sport Utility Printer' of Quadient's line. It features a 4" print area (the widest in its class), a 2+4+2 head configuration with 8 HP cartridges, and handles media up to 50" long. It prints up to 26,000 #10 envelopes/hr or 34,000 postcards/hr at 600 × 600 dpi.

What is the difference between the AS-650 and the AS-850?

Both systems print at the same speed (26,000 env/hr) and resolution (600 dpi), but the AS-850 is the heavy-duty upgrade. Key differences: the AS-850 has a wider 4" print area vs. the AS-650's 3"; handles media up to 50" long vs. 17"; accepts thicker media (0.5" vs. 0.375"); uses 8 cartridges vs. 6; and features the AccuTrak™ transport deck for more precise registration. The AS-850 is built for larger, more demanding production environments.

What is the AccuTrak™ transport deck?

AccuTrak™ is Quadient's precision transport system on the AS-850 that lets operators position the transport belts and guides that run under the belts for dead-on print registration. This is especially important when printing on irregular or oversized media where consistent placement is critical.

Can the AS-850 handle oversized mail pieces?

Yes — the AS-850 handles media up to 50" long × 15" wide and up to 12.7 mm (0.5") thick. This makes it ideal for large-format flats, catalogs, oversized postcards, chipboard mailers, and corrugated pieces that smaller systems cannot process.

Does the AS-850 print USPS barcodes?

Yes. The AS-850 prints USPS Intelligent Mail barcodes (IMb) for Full-Service compliance, qualifying your mailings for automation postage discounts and enabling mail tracking through the USPS system.

What is EASYInks?

EASYInks is Quadient's specialized ink formulation for the AS-850 that is designed to adhere to virtually any media surface — including coated stocks, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, and other challenging materials that standard inkjet inks may not bond to reliably.

Can I see a demo of the AS-850 at Mail Movers?

Yes — as an authorized Quadient dealer, Mail Movers can arrange a live demonstration of the AS-850 at our Salisbury, MD facility. Contact us to schedule a demo and discuss how the AS-850 fits your production volume and media requirements.

What optional accessories are available for the AS-850?

The AS-850 supports optional conveyor, stacker, and dryer accessories, as well as the AS-FDR14 high-capacity feeder for even larger production runs. Our team can help you configure the right accessory combination for your specific workflow.
